How to Inscribe your Greeting Card

When it comes to sending heartfelt words of appreciation, greeting cards can be a great choice. They provide a small but meaningful gesture to let someone know you are thinking of them, and the thoughtful inscription inside can make all the difference. Writing the right sentiment in a greeting card can take some practice, however.

Before you start writing, think about the person who will be receiving the card, and why you are sending it. A birthday card for your best friend should have a different message than a sympathy card for an acquaintance. Consider how well you know the recipient, and what tone you would like to convey.

Now it’s time to get started writing. Try to keep your message short and sweet; the maximum number of lines should be three. Be sure to use words that are appropriate for your relationship with the recipient. Make sure to include their name and the occasion you are honoring.

Your message should be sincere, so feel free to mix up the classic greetings with some of your own phrases. If you’re not good at coming up with heartfelt messages, there are many websites and books with pre-written inscriptions that you can borrow from.

Most importantly, sign off with your name. Writing “love” after your name is a great way to add a personal touch. However, only do this if it is truly appropriate in your relationship with the recipient.

By taking the thought and effort to write a meaningful inscription, you will be able to show someone special how much you care.
